Who Is Your Mediator?

February 8, 2016 By Sean

Today, I’m going to focus on something that has importance regarding your sins or “badness” as the Watchtower phrases it as.  I wish to deal with the Watchtower, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Jesus Christ the mediator.

To give us our context, I wish to start by looking at the New World Translation by looking at I Timothy 2:5, which says, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus.”  I am not going to address the deity of Christ since the statements that are given on  on a regular basis should be sufficient.  The key phrase, is “one mediator, a man.”   Let’s look at Watchtower statements in light of the Bible.  Let’s start by going back to the days of Charles Taze Russell in 1914 during the inspection of all world religions.

So we see the difference between the Advocacy of Christ for the Church and His future work as Mediator for the world of mankind.

The Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. July 1, 1914 p. 201

What is interesting is I Timothy was written between the years 62-67 A.D.  Paul was speaking in the present tense.  However, the Watchtower was speaking in the future tense given that we have the words, “future work.”  That would be difference number one, the timeframe given.  As a Witness, I know you agree that the Bible is inspired.  The organization says it is “guided by holy spirit, we should have consistency between the bible and Watchtower publications.  Let’s read on by this future reinforcement in The Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  May 15, 1915 Reprints p. 5687 that says:

The great Mediator will be in charge of the world’s interests, having then make satisfaction to Justice on their behalf.

So here is an interesting statement, that the “great Mediator will be in charge of the world’s interests.”  This statement was given over 100 years ago.  So do we have evidence of a prophecy that has not been fulfilled?  I know there was no specific timeframe given, but since we are close to going onto 101 years, can we just qualify this as a false prophecy?  Additionally, along with having a false prophecy, we are going to see yet another further development and that qualifies as to who is mediated for.  For this, we will go to the year 1946.

However, under the new covenant the Christians are made righteous or justified through the Mediator Christ Jesus.

Let God Be True. 1946 p. 180

So what we have are those who are  under the new covenant.  Does this qualify you as part of the great crowd?  We have a qualification given in Aid to Bible Understanding, which you know today as Insight on The Scriptures with the following:

The apostle Paul declares that there is “one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all.” (1 Tim. 2:5, 6) He mediates the new covenant between God and those taken into the new covenant, the congregation of spiritual Israel. (Heb. 8:10-13; 12:24; Eph. 5:25-27) Christ became Mediator in order that the ones called “might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance” (Heb. 9:15): he assists, not the angels, but “Abraham’s seed.” (Heb. 2:16)

Aid to Bible Understanding. 1971 p. 1130

This contains “new light” and another difference.  Jesus’ work as mediator has been reduced from the world population to just spiritual Israel, or the 144,000.  Additionally, the Watchtower says that Jesus merely “assists.”   He was solely responsible previously.  My question is if he only “assists,” who is the one ultimately responsible?  Further reading says the following:

The “great crowd” of “other sheep” that is forming today is not in that new covenant. However, by their associating with the “little flock” of those yet in that covenant they come under benefits that flow from that new covenant. During the millennium Jesus Christ will be their king, high priest and judge.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  April 1, 1979 p. 31

So what we have is the great crowd is not under the new covenant straight from the pages of The Watchtower.  For those of you who are listening in, were you aware of this?  We have reinforcement seven years later with the following:

Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.

Worldwide Security Under the “Prince of Peace.” 1986 p. 10

If you think this is old light, I wish to give you present light that is in agreement:

Are all Christians included in this new covenant? No. Some, like the apostles who drank of that cup that evening, are participants in the new covenant.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  March 15, 2010 p. 26, 27

Those who are only of the anointed are in the new covenant by the Watchtower Society’s very definition.  Only the anointed are to participate in the yearly memorial.

Now let’s go back to scripture and look a little bit more.  I’m going to read I Timothy 2:5 (New World Translation), “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus.”

I wish to focus on just two words right now, “a man.”  According to the pages printed by the society, we see the following:

What about the archangel Michael? While on earth as Jesus, he set the standard for human evangelizers.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  May 15, 2013 p. 3

I’m going to use just one more quote to reinforce this:

As Michael the archangel, Jesus did not go beyond his authority when he had ‘a difference with the Devil about Moses’ body.’

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  November 11, 2012 p. 11

I’m sure you well know that the Watchtower like others as part of the Adventist movement Jesus is taught to be Michael the Archangel.  Since Watchtower doctrine teaches this, who is the mediator for the anointed?  As I’ve said before, requirement is one who is “a man.”  Since Michael is an angel, how is it possible for the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society to have a mediator since this requirement is not met.  Therefore, when you are praying, in short, the prayers go nowhere since the Society doesn’t have a biblical mediator.

Since it requires a man to be mediator, does the anointed or specifically the governing body work as the mediator for those in the great crowd?  I would say that is where the organization steps in to the role of mediator.  For this I wish to look at The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom, February 15, 1983 p. 12 and 13.  Particular emphasis is on the third requirement:

Jesus Christ identified a first requirement when he said in prayer to his Father: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3) Knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ includes knowledge of God’s purposes regarding the earth and of Christ’s role as earth’s new King. Will you take in such knowledge by studying the Bible?

Many have found the second requirement more difficult. It is to obey God’s laws, yes, to conform one’s life to the moral requirements set out in the Bible. This includes refraining from a debauched, immoral way of life.—1 Corinthians 6:9, 10; 1 Peter 4:3, 4.

A third requirement is that we be associated with God’s channel, his organization. God has always used an organization. For example, only those in the ark in Noah’s day survived the Flood, and only those associated with the Christian congregation in the first century had God’s favor. (Acts 4:12) Similarly, Jehovah is using only one organization today to accomplish his will. To receive everlasting life in the earthly Paradise we must identify that organization and serve God as part of it.

The fourth requirement is connected with loyalty. God requires that prospective subjects of his Kingdom support his government by loyally advocating his Kingdom rule to others. Jesus Christ explained: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth.” (Matthew 24:14) Will you meet this requirement by telling others about God’s Kingdom?

Perhaps you are well acquainted with these requirements. Yet many persons are ignorant of God’s purposes and of what he requires. Now we have a marvelous instrument to help such ones. It is the book You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth. Have you used it to help others learn what God requires of them?

I want you to really stop and think about this, until you have a mediator that meets the biblical definition, you are dead in your sins.  I simply say this, come to the Jesus of the Bible.  Run, don’t walk away from this organization.  With what has been presented, you have a clear choice, the scripture within the Bible or continual reliance on The Watchtower.  If they have something like this so basic and clear wrong, should you allow them to determine where you will be for eternity?

Watchtower and Race Relations

February 1, 2016 By Sean

Last week the East Coast was hammered by a blizzard.  Thankfully, my neighbor has a snow blower and he always says, “you can use it, just clear my driveway as well.”  As I was snow blowing, and any time it snows, I always marvel at the snow’s pure appearance and how something so small can have a big collective impact.  In a church hymn, there’s the song called Nothing But The Blood of Jesus.  The refrain is, “oh precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow.”  Although this is speaking about sin, I wish to speak on what some consider to be the touchy topic: race.

As an individual who has been subjected to racial discrimination by threat and racial epithets, I attempt to take it in stride.  By looking to get even rather than getting ahead, one will not progress in life.  With that in mind, here’s some quotes pertaining to race, particularly those who are black but can be expanded to include those who are not white.

Mormons

Blacks were denied the LDS priest hood until 1978.  This is due to Cain’s lineage and being less valiant in the pre-mortal existence since Mormons believe that people existed in eternity past.

The Book of Mormon states God cursed Laminates and made their skin turn black.  Let’s turn to 2 Nephi 5:21 says, “And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.”

3 Nephi 2:15-And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites;

They claim to be God’s one true organization.  Why did God wait until 1978 to have this revelation?  Here is the text regarding it:

It goes with the Seventh Day Adventist as well.  The most prominent member currently is the Republican Presidential candidate, Dr. Benjamin Carson.  Let’s look at the founder, Seventh Day Adventist prophetess, Ellen White:

God cannot take the slave to heaven, who has been kept in ignorance and degradation, knowing nothing of God, or the Bible, fearing nothing but his master’s lash, and not holding so elevated a position as his master’s brute beasts. But He does the best thing for him that a compassionate God can do. He lets him be as though he had not been.

Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 1.  1858.  p. 193

With those parallels in mind, let’s take our focus and turn to Jehovah’s visible channel of communication.  I wish to look first at Jehovah’s Witnesses demographics.  According to the Pew Forum website for American Jehovah’s Witnesses, approximately:

  • 36% are White
  • 27% are black
  • <1% are Asian
  • 32% are Latino
  • 6% are other/mixed

I was unable to find anything for world statistics but if you look at the Yearbook for information, you will see that most growth is occurring in the Third World.  Let’s just say hypothetically the numbers I presented reflect the world population.  How does the leadership reflect this racial makeup?

I’m adamant in saying that there should NOT be forced diversity for diversity’s sake.  But the first and only minority is Samuel Herd, appointed in 1999.  Since he is the only minority of seven Governing Body members, he represents all diversity at 14.28%.  How does the organization hierarchy rank?  In your time as a Witness, how often did you see someone of a different race?  I’m fully expecting that you take into account geographic variables that certain groups tend to live in certain areas.

Looking at the spouses, it is approximately 28.56% diverse since Geoffrey Jackson’s second wife is black.

If you’ve been listening to the show for a while, I was told by a Witness, “there’s a love that’s not matched by any organization but this one.”  Is this how the organization view on race from the beginning? Let’s delve into the past of the Watchtower to find out….

The negro race is supposed to be descended from Ham, whose special degradation is mentioned in Gen. 9:22, 25

Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. 1898 Reprints p. 2344

Though once as black as charcoal, the Rev. Mr. Draper is now white. His people say that his color was changed in answer to prayer. Many years ago Draper was employed by a fair-skinned man, and he was often heard to remark that if he could only be white like his employer, he would be happy. While in the white man’s service Draper `experienced’ religion.

Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. October 1, 1900 p. 296, 297

Suppose a missionary and his wife removed to China; not only would the influence of the climate and soil be manifested upon themselves, but the same would be still more manifested in their children. Whoever will give careful attention to this matter will notice that each succeeding child born in that foreign country will have increasingly resemblance to the Chinese — the hair, the skin, the shape of the eyes, and in general all features will bear closer resemblance with each succeeding child. We can readily suppose that if so much change occurs in a few years, ten or twenty centuries under similar conditions would turn any white people into regular Chinese, even supposing there were no intermarrying.

Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. July 15, 1902 Reprints p. 3043

How could all men be brought to perfection and which color of skin was the original?  The answer is now provided.  God can change the Ethiopian’s skin in his due time.  Prof. H. A. Edwards, Supt. of Schools in Slater, Mo., has written for the public press an elaborate description of how Julius Jackson, of New Frankfurt, Mo., a negro boy of nine years, began to grow white in September, 1901, and is now fully nine-tenths white.

Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. February 15, 1904 p. 52, 53

Recognizing that it meant either the success or the failure of the enterprise of the [Photo] Drama as respects the whites, we have been compelled to assign the colored friends to the gallery, which, however, is just as good for seeing and hearing as any other part of The Temple. Some were offended at this arrangement.

We have received numerous letters from the colored friends, some claiming that it is not right to make a difference, others indignantly and bitterly denouncing us as enemies of the colored people. Some, confident that Brother Russell had never sanctioned such a discrimination, told that they believe it would be duty to stand up for equal rights and always to help the oppressed, etc. We were obliged to explain the facts, assuring all of our loving interest in the colored people, and of our desire to do them good, and not injury. We again suggested that if a suitable place could be found in which the Drama could be presented for the benefit of the colored people alone, we would be glad to make such arrangements, or to cooperate with any others in doing so.

The Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. April 1, 1914 p. 105, 106

Watchtower Jesus would have started his inspection and have read this.  He approved of it as being “proper food at the proper time” by segregating people along different lines such as race.

For more information on Russell’s statements on race:

This extends further into the days of Rutherford with the following:

From a criminal viewpoint the desirability of sobering the southern negro speaks volumes for national prohibition.

The Golden Age.  October 15, 1919 p. 44

A general convention of the Colored brethren has been arranged for September 3rd to 6th at Washington, D.C.

The Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. May 15, 1926 p. 146

We quote again: “Mrs. Stowe felt herself so possessed that she became the conscious agent of a power other than her own.  The story can less be said to have been composed by her than imposed upon her.”  (Italics are ours.) “Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a work of religion; God wrote it,” she averred.  But some of her contemporaries pronounced it the work of Satan; and they were quite right.

The Golden Age. November 30, 1927 p. 141

Irony here is that the book widely applauded today for helping to expose slavery was regarded as a work of Satan by the society.

The same page is says this: Centuries before, anticipating the settlement of North America by a liberty-loving people, and the founding of a government favorable to enlightenment, Satan had sought to forestall it through the voyages of Columbus and the resulting effort to people it with Spaniards and other backward races under the influence of Rome.

The Golden Age.  November 30, 1927 p. 141

Question: Is there anything in the Bible that reveals the origin of the Negro?

Answer: It is generally believed that the curse which Noah pronounced upon Canaan was the origin of the Black race. Certain it is that when Noah said, “Cursed be Canaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren,” he pictured the future of the Colored race.  They have been and are a race of servants, but now in the dawn of the twentieth century, we are all coming to see this matter of service in its true light and to find that the only real joy in life is in serving others; not bossing them.  There is no servant in the world as good as a good Colored servant, and the joy he gets from rendering faithful service is one of the purest joys there is in the world.

The Golden Age. July 24, 1929 p. 702

Ironically when it comes to the curse of Ham, the following passages are not mentioned where a curse extends only as far as the third or fourth generation (painful childbirth is a result to the connection of the original sin):

  • Exodus 20:5
  • Exodus 34:7
  • Numbers 14:18
  • Deuteronomy 5:9

Not much more is said but it continues into the days of Knorr with the following:

So if the Bible does not instruct Christians to fight slavery it would not sanction them to battle the lesser evil of segregation, at the expense of gospel-preaching.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. February 1, 1952 p. 95

In race relations, do you see genuine improvement among the nations of the world? Most people readily say ‘no’; there are strong racial hatreds on every continent. But we read statements like this one concerning Jehovah’s witnesses:

I am struck with their genuine high regard for the people of all races. Unlike some who pay lip service to the doctrine of racial brotherhood, the Witnesses welcome all to their society—even to places of outstanding leadership—without reference to color or feature.—G. Norman Eddy in Journal of Bible and Religion.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. January 15, 1973 p. 37

Regardless of how politicians and religionists view the matter, the Bible and science indicate that all races are equal and descend from a common source.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. February 8, 1982 p. 15

However, in “due time” attitudes changed slightly.  I would suggest that it would deal in part with the expansion into areas that would be considered minority majority areas abroad. Let’s move forward with yet another overt quote during the administration of Nathan Knorr.

Really, our colored brothers have great cause for rejoicing. Their race is meek and teachable, and from it comes a high percentage of the theocratic increase. What if the worldly wise and powerful and noble look down on them as foolish and weak and ignoble, not on an equality with self-exalted whites? It is to God’s ultimate honor, for he confounds the wise of this world by choosing those the world considers foolish and weak and ignoble.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  February 1, 1952 p. 95

As one Colored brother in Cape Town says: “Supplies were limited, but this did not slow down the work.

Yearbook.  1976. p. 145

This is pertaining to South Africa.  Why is there a need to call him “Colored” and not just leave it at brother?

The Bible-based Kingdom message proclaimed by Jehovah’s Witnesses has attracted thousands of South Africans. They have thus been able to rise above the racial and political turmoil and enjoy something unique in South Africa—racial harmony.  Gert, a former member of the DR Church, discovered this. He explains: “Among Jehovah’s Witnesses, there is no discrimination because of race or language—hence, their worldwide unity.

Awake!  June 22, 1988 p. 9

He didn’t read the 1976 Yearbook and its pretty obvious.

Apartheid laws affected the operation of our branch. When the Elandsfontein Bethel Home was constructed in 1952, the law required an additional building at the rear to accommodate the black and colored brothers. The law also required that they eat separately from whites in so-called African quarters. Later, it was arranged for them to eat in the Bethel kitchen. This was the eating arrangement when we arrived at Bethel in 1959.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  April 1, 1993 p. 22, 23

In later years, David Taylor, a colored brother, also had a zealous share in spreading Bible truth in this field.

  Yearbook.  2007.  p. 79

So three more considerations for you and I’ll be done.

As you read over the Watchtower magazine, take a look at the anointed and those who are from heaven.  Are there any minorities amongst them?

Look at things from the Biblical perspective, have you stopped to consider how many individuals who were most likely not of European decent were in the Bible?

I did a simple search for Africans in the Bible on the internet.  This is a fascinating little read:

Jesus loves the little children, red, and yellow, black, and white, they are precious in his sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world.  However, when it comes to Watchtower Jesus, there is a preference for those who are white or of European descent.

Watchtower and Matthew 24:45-47

January 25, 2016 By Sean

How did an account that within mainstream Christianity regards as a parable (earthly story with a heavenly/spiritual meaning) become a prophecy?
This is an exciting subject that I would like to spend some time on. Today I will cover Matthew 24:45-47. Today the Watchtower calls it the “faithful and discrete slave.” The other term was “faithful and wise servant” when the King James Version was used. How many of you considered learning about the origin of this and how it was applied in the organization? Prior to getting involved with it, have you ever done a phrase search on “faithful and discreet slave?” What will you see?
Cultic groups have a way to write their leaders into the pages of scripture even though they are not mentioned specifically by name.

Mormons have Joseph Smith:

Having accepted Ellen G. White as one of God’s messengers, and believing that she manifested the gift of prophecy, then we must decide on the relationship of her writings to the Bible: Ellen G. White Estate

Within the history of the organization, it started inauspiciously with the following quote about the remnant (starting with Adventist influence):

Who then is that faithful and wise servant whom his Lord hath made ruler over his household,” to give them meat in due season? Is it not that “little flock” of consecrated servants who are faithfully carrying out their consecration vows – the body of Christ – and is not the whole body individually and collectively, giving the meat in due season to the household of faith – the great company of believers?”

Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. 1881 Oct/Nov p.5

However, this was not good enough.  Instead of using it to refer to an entire group, Russell’s wife, who was on speaking terms with him, applied it to him.

The following quote is from 1906 but first appeared in December of 1895:

The excitement and connected to the against against the me able referred to temporally hindered the sprouting of the bad seed of so-called “women’s rights” and ambition, and temporarily Mrs. Russell become very enthusiastic in my support.  It was she who first called attention to Matt. 24:45-47, applying it to me in a meeting at Allegheny and subsequently in another meeting with the New York Church.  I demurred that I had not thought of the passage thus, and declined to make any personal application of it, although I could not deny the force of the argument that it pointed out “that servant,” and “fellow servants” and “the household,” apparently clearly and designedly  distinguishing between these terms.

.  July 15, 1906  Reprints p. 3811

So what we have is a seed planted and took time to germinate.

To Russell’s credit, he didn’t make a public declaration that he was “the servant,” however, here’s what the magazine said just over a month after he died:

Thousands of the readers of Pastor Russell’s writing believe that he filled the office of “that faithful and wise servant,” and that his great work was giving to the Household of Faith meat in due season.  His modesty and humility precluded him from openly claiming this title, but he admitted as much in private conversation.

The Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1916 p. 357

So it remains within the realm of possibility that Russell heard this and basically over the course of 10 years, felt those particular verses spoke about him.  That in and of itself is a problem since I said previously, cult groups have their leadership written into the pages of scriptures themselves.

Regardless, with Russell now dead (even though he was to be regarded as a king: Russell, thou hast, by the Lord been crowned a king; and through the everlasting ages thy name shall be known amongst the people, and thy enemies shall come and worship at thy feet.

The Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. December 1, 1916 Reprints p. 6015)

had to have the Faithful and Wise Servant change “in due time.”  However, it did not change immediately since we have the following quotes:

Brother Russell occupied the office of that “faithful and wise servant”

The Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence. March 1, 1923 p. 68

With that in mind, many things had to change once Rutherford took over.  This was a core teaching that was to change as well.  So here’s how it happened.  The following is a quote from The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence, February 15, 1927 p. 53:

Seeing then that The Servant of Jehovah is The Christ, and that The Christ is composed of Jesus and the faithful members of his body, we find it proper to apply the term “Servant” to Jesus Christ alone or to Jesus Christ and the members of his body collectively as one; and sometimes it is applied only to the member of the body of Christ yet on earth.

(The article has Matthew 24:45 and 46 as the basis of the entire article).

So what we have are two things:

  1. A partial return to a prior teaching.
  2. Elevating “The Servant” to a heavenly individual: namely Watchtower Jesus.

Moving along in our WT chronology, this is something that didn’t change.  However, in groups like the Watchtower, the truth continues to get twisted.  Remember earlier how I said, the Watchtower printed out statements stating that Russell was the servant.

However, what we have is blame getting passed along in Qualified to Be Ministers, published in 1955 on page 318 by saying the following about “elective elders”:

Many of these insisted on living in the past, in the time of Pastor Russell, who was claimed by them to be the sole channel of Scriptural enlightenment, whom they called “the servant” of Matthew 24:45.

So in short, the “thousands of readers” must have only been the “elective elders” based upon prior statements.

Further twisting occurs in 1973 with the following:

From this it is clearly seen that the editor and publisher of Zion’s Watch Tower disavowed any claim to being individually, in his person, that “faithful and wise servant.” He never did claim to be such.  However, he did continue to edit the Watch Tower magazine down to the day of his death on October 31, 1916.

God’s Kingdom of a Thousand Years Has Approached. 1973. p. 346

Now this is an idea that didn’t undergo much by way of change however, from what I’ve read, it’s a shift from a Jesus/Michael emphasis to those on Earth with the following:

To that end, their ‘master’ appointed a collective ‘faithful steward’ class, the body of anointed Christians on the earth since Pentecost 33 C.E. Since the ‘master’ found the remaining ones of this body faithfully and discreetly giving out ‘food supplies’ when he arrived for inspection in 1919, he appointed them ‘over all his belonging.”

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom. September 15, 1983 p. 19-20

In less than 30 years, we have a shift to the Governing Body with this quote:

For instance, a number of branches are being merged and consolidated, which will allow many who were formerly serving in Bethel homes in those countries to focus on the preaching work. Brother Lett urged the audience to keep praying that the Governing Body, as the representative of the slave class, continue to be not only faithful but also wise, or discreet.—Matt. 24:45-47.  The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  August 15, 2011 p. 18

The transition to the Governing Body (and throwing the anointed under the bus) is complete with the following from the article: “Who Really Is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?”

Who, then, is the faithful and discreet slave? In keeping with Jesus’ pattern of feeding many through the hands of a few, that slave is made up of a small group of anointed brothers who are directly involved in preparing and dispensing spiritual food during Christ’s presence. Throughout the last days, the anointed brothers who make up the faithful slave have served together at headquarters. In recent decades, that slave has been closely identified with the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Note, however, that the word “slave” in Jesus’ illustration is singular, indicating that this is a composite slave. The decisions of the Governing Body are thus made collectively.

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom.  July 15, 2013 p. 22

So here are the questions:

  1. The tacking occurred from going to a small group to one individual to all anointed and now it is the Governing Body.  Why did the light get brighter to only dim to old light then get modified to a few and not a few thousand?
  2. Since Jesus came back in 1914 now, why was it that an individual was regarded as the “faithful and discreet slave?”  Should it not have been more than just one man?
  3. How was it possible to have the anointed as the “faithful and discreet slave” since there are anointed females?
  4. Most importantly, what sort of confirmation was there since special roles for anyone in the bible are attributed to a miraculous sign?  As you go though and name someone specially chosen in the bible, there is some sort of miraculous act attributed to them.

As always, this organization has written itself into the Bible taking a few verses and specifically applying it to them.  What more do you need in terms of proof that you should place down the magazine and read the Bible on its own?
