1931 Vindication Part I

Since about 1889, when Volume II of Studies is the Scriptures was issued and it was seen that there was a typical significance attached to Elijah and his work, the faithful had waited, expecting the year 1914 to mark the complete fulfilment of the prophecy. They had expected Armageddon to follow immediately after 1914 and the church to be glorified. Of course it was not due time until after 1918 to have a clearer vision of the prophecy.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 24

The complete execution of his judgment will be in the battle of Armageddon, in which Satan and his entire organization shall completely fall.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 65

Armageddon is Jehovah’s fight, and he will give no quarter to the enemy and his supporters.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 74

Jesus prophesied that Armageddon will be the worst tribulation that ever came upon the world, and that it shall completely wreck the hypocritical organization that Satan has builded up.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 76

When Armageddon is over, it will be recognized that the organization of Jehovah is the “worst” thing that ever came against Satan’s organization, and therefore they will realize that God has sent against them that which is the very worst for them.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 76

The inspection continued and more abominations were seen by the Prophet Ezekiel, and what Ezekiel saw foreshadowed what the “faithful servant” or remnant would see shortly preceding Armageddon, or the destruction of Christendom.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 84

The battle of Armageddon will witness the complete downfall of Christendom, and that without any quarter or pity from the Lord.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 114

This scripture further indicates that some of the remnant will be on earth when the work is done, and will witness Armageddon from their vantage point under the Lord’s protection.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 116

While being used to mark those who will be taken through that fiery trouble of Armageddon, the remnant is also used by the Lord to announce the destructive part of God’s program.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 116

Ezekiel’s vision of the man in linen doing his work foreshadows that Satan’s organization will be destroyed at Armageddon, not by outraged labor, socialists, or anarchists, but by the righteous organization of Jehovah God.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 125

These men scoff at the kingdom of God and the impending battle of Armageddon, even as the “wiseacres” scoffed a Jeremiah’s prediction of the impending catastrophe at Jerusalem. (Jer. 23:16, 17)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 127, 128

Supporting this, another prophet wrote describing the battle of Armageddon, and then adds: “And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east.” (Zech. 14:4)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 135

Concerning the end of the world, the setting up of the kingdom, and the battle of Armageddon, the commandment is given that the faithful covenant people of God must bear testimony thereof to the people.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 138

The destruction that shall come upon Christendom at Armageddon will be the greatest that has ever affected the world.  The Lord is also now causing notice to be served, that in that trouble there shall be a class of people spared and brought through and made the recipients of his favor; and this he caused Ezekiel to foreshadow in these words: “But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the [nations] whither they come ; and they shall know that I am the Lord.” (12:16)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 143

Such is Satan’s scheme to turn the people away from the true God, to the end that Satan may have them all on his side at Armageddon.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 145

To be sure, no man can say exactly what day or year Armageddon will be fought, but it is easy to be seen that the conditions amongst the people arc such now that a great crisis is near. The clergy and the politicians have predicted and continue to predict great success and prosperity for their man-made schemes.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 146

God’s kingdom has begun to operate. His day of vengeance is here, and Armageddon is at hand and certain to fall upon Christendom, and that within an early date.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 147

The time is here when God’s people must make it plain to all that the nations are marching to Armageddon and that the only hope of the people is the kingdom of God.  It is a great privilege to be permitted to make this announcement.  It is the truth; and the truth will bring hope and courage to the people.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 148

They have taken their stand against the Lord and against his anointed, and for this reason God will not permit them to stand in the day of Armageddon.-Rev. 12:17; 17:14.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 151

Note that this was after the World War had ended and Satan had been cast out of heaven and had begun to prepare his forces for Armageddon. (Rev. 12:12; 16:13-16) The women of America in particular began to compete with the men as prophets of peace and to have a part in guiding and dictating the policies and political operations of Christendom.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 155, 156

The so-called “Mother’s Day” was observed in America first in 1914, the very year that Satan’s world ended and when he knew his time was short to get ready for the great battle of Armageddon. To induce the people to bestow special honor and worship upon mothers would be one step towards turning the people away from the worship of God; and this is one of his means of preparing for Armageddon.  In all the churches today much is made over “Mother’s Day”, but in not a single one of them are the people ever told that God is the Father, and that the “mother” is his organization, and that all honor and worship is due to Jehovah God.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 158, 159

The battle of Armageddon is approaching, and it will ruin the business of the false prophets and prophetesses : “Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations ; for I will deliver my people out of your hand ; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.” (13:23)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 163

When the battle of Armageddon is due to begin, then Jehovah will send Christ Jesus and his mighty army and will give command for the sword to go through the land. “He will give them that are wicked to the sword. ’’ (Jer. 25:31)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 171

This is further proof that the faithful class will not be hurt by the great trouble or battle of Armageddon.

This does not mean that only God’s anointed ones may be carried through the trouble of Armageddon, because other scriptures show that there will be some flesh spared.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 172

The Lord would have it definitely under- stood that at Armageddon he will spare no part of Satan’s organization.
The words of the Lord spoken to Ezekiel, however, show that there will be some taken through the time of trouble at Armageddon aside from his anointed “servant ” class.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 174

The “vine tree”, Christendom, by readily joining with Satan’s organization in the World War, thereby became scorched, or burned, and it, is withered, and the fire of Armageddon will completely annihilate it.  “And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord God.” (15:8)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 178

Had the nations of Christendom given heed to that testimony, and had the clergy caused the people to hear the words of the Lord, instead of opposing it as they have done, Christendom might have been spared the great time of trouble of Armageddon. But now the die is cast, and Christendom must by order of Jehovah be destroyed, and the forces are marching on to Armageddon.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 231

The battle of Armageddon will come as a snare upon all the world, even as Jesus foretold: “For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” (Luke 21:35)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 232

This has an application after Armageddon and after the inauguration of the new covenant.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 237

Manifestly the purpose of setting out these truths that Christendom might understand them now is that men might see the advantage of seeking meekness and seeking righteousness before the battle of Armageddon, and that this will be to their benefit in passing through the time of trouble and at the inauguration of the new covenant.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 240

This message from the Lord he sends out during the interval of peace between the close of the World War and the destruction of Christendom at the battle of Armageddon.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 242

He has kept his hand off until wickedness has come to the full; and now he will destroy the wicked and the defamers of his name, and will pre- serve the righteous ones in the great battle of Armageddon, and this will be a vindication of his word and of his great name.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 244

“Organized religion,” falsely called “Christianity”, is a part of “the vine of the earth” which is to be cast into the “winepress” at the battle of Armageddon, and there its lifeblood will be crushed out.-Rev. 14:18-20.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 254, 255

Jehovah will give none of these an opportunity to further reproach his name after Armageddon.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 256

When Jehovah God gives expression to his righteous indignation against Christendom at Armageddon no one will be able to check that conflagration.
Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 271

God’s faithful witnesses are now certain that they have the correct understanding of what is coming upon Christendom and upon all of Satan’s organization. God has revealed to his faithful people that the battle of Armageddon will be truly terrible and be the greatest of all tribulations, because God through Christ Jesus, and not by man, will execute his righteous judgment against Christendom.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 274

With boastful arrogance Satan now assembles his forces for Armageddon, and by various treaties and compacts his rulers on earth bind themselves as rods together until they have the appearance of a tree for thickness; yet God’s great sword despises them and they are contemptible in his sight.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 275

There will be no peaceful time until Jehovah’s fury has been satisfied upon the enemy at Armageddon.  All the adversaries of Jehovah must go down, that his name and word may be vindicated.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 282

In this verse (24) Jehovah laid the charge against the Jews at the beginning of the Gentile times; and with stronger reasoning the charge applies to Christendom since the close of the Gentile times and before bringing upon Christendom the sword at Armageddon.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 285

Other renderings of verse twenty-seven disclose a flexibility of phraseology of the text, making it apply both in 1914 and at Armageddon.

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 287

This shows that the prophecy applied at 1914, when the Lord Jesus was then placed upon the throne, but applies more particularly at the coming of the Lord Jesus to the battle of Armageddon.  Then the crowns of Satan’s organization will be thrown down, and the heads broken. (Ps. 110:6)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 287

Jeremiah prophesied concerning the execution of God’s wrath at Armageddon upon such as the Ammonites. (Jer. 25:21)

Vindication Part I.  1931.  p. 289

1932 Preservation

The day to spring the trap no doubt they have set sometime in the distance; and the Scriptures indicate that the attempt to commit the final overt act of their conspiracy will be shortly before the, time of Armageddon.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 87

The incident there described and what quickly followed foreshadows events just preceding Armageddon and what shall come to pass at Armageddon. This is a comfort to God’s remnant.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 92

Thus she foreshadowed what God’s people must do in this day when Armageddon is approaching.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 96

The great World War was brought to a sudden end in 1918 ‘for the sake of Gods elect’. Then the commandment was given to his people to carry the message of truth to the peoples of earth before the final and great destruction at Armageddon. (Matt. 24:14-22) The remnant class is therefore not in ignorance of God’s purposes concerning them.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 103

The time to give, the final witness to the name and word of God before Armageddon breaks is now here.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 107

Haman was destroyed before the big fight on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month came to pass, seeming to indicate that the Haman class go down before the time of the battle of Armageddon.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 135

For their aid and comfort, and that they might keep bright their hope, he graciously reveals more clearly to them his purposes now, and this must indicate that the day is near when the name of Jehovah will be vindicated in the great battle of Armageddon.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 143

At the same time he found a faithful company who have been giving attention at the altar of the Lord because they love the Lord, and of these he constituted the “faithful and wise servant” class, and to this class he committed all his goods, namely, all the privileges of service to the Lord on earth from the time of coming to the temple until Armageddon.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 145

The Scriptures support the conclusion, as hereinbefore stated, that the close relationship between the commercial, political and ecclesiastical elements of the world will be broken and the ecclesiastical element will be cast away and destroyed before Armageddon. (See Light, Book Two, page 108.)

Preservation.  1932.  p. 147

Bear in mind that Satan’s purpose now is to destroy the remnant, and he will continue to have and use earthly agents until Armageddon sweeps his power and organization completely away.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 147

Whatever this part of the divine drama of Esther shows, it forcibly illustrates this fact: that God has purposed to permit the Devil to go his limit in wickedness until Armageddon, and that there he will clean out the Devil and his organization, and that until that time God’s witnesses on earth must continue to bear testimony to the Word and name of Jehovah.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 148

Likewise God has decreed that Armageddon shall be fought and that all Satan’s forces shall be gathered together against his people, and this is unalterable.-Zech. 14:1-3.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 150

It may therefore be expected that every part of Satan’s wicked organization will continue to march on to Armageddon with the full determination to completely destroy God’s remnant and to stop all witness work to Jehovah’s name upon the earth.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 150

God has not changed and will not change his decree for Armageddon, nor restrain the enemy from making his assault upon his people; but he will furnish all the needed power for a counterassault that will completely wipe the enemy out of existence.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 152

In recent months God has made known to his people the meaning of much that has heretofore been hidden, and may not those things be taken as proof that Armageddon is near, and that the publication business concerning it and the kingdom of God requires hasty diligence and perseverance on the part of the remnant? Let every one of the remnant class, then, do full duty with a joyful heart. The great battle is rapidly approaching.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 153

The remnant must make haste to do this by all the means which God has provided to make known his purpose to destroy the enemy and his organization at Armageddon.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 154

Christ and those of his risen body members, and all of his holy angels, will do the actual slaughter work of the enemy at Armageddon.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 158

When the people of Israel were delivered from their oppressors on a former occasion, and the oppressors perished at the hand of the Lord, the song of Deborah and Barak was sung, which contained these words appropriate to God’s people when the victory of Armageddon is complete with the downfall of the enemy: “So let all thine enemies perish, O Jehovah; but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might.”-Judg. 5:31, A.R.V. See also Matthew 13:43.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 159

The feast of jubilation of the Jews seems to foreshadow that some of the remnant will be on the earth even after Armageddon, and that they will greatly rejoice because of the complete vindication of Jehovah’s holy name.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 164

Following Armageddon all the earth shall be subdued under Christ, the King and executive officer of Jehovah, and all humankind will be required to render tribute unto the great Prince to the glory of Jehovah God the King eternal.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 166

May not this mean that after Armageddon God will have some of his faithful remnant or servant class on the earth, and assign them to some honorable work for the good of the people; and that they will also be used to the glory of God in speaking peace to the people, and probably that will be the due time for God to bring forth the princes of the earth, the faithful prophets, and even Mordecai himself, to join in the work for the general welfare, of the people? Ps. 45:16; Isa. 32:1.

Preservation.  1932.  p. 166

1932 Golden Age

The new government of Great Britain will not give Mr. Gandhi any encouragement for In- dian home rule. He goes back to India a disappointed man. What will happen now, we shall have to wait and see. The clouds are dark and threatening. England's Armageddon is rapidly approaching its consummation in that land.

The Golden Age.  January 6, 1932 p. 212

This act of betrayal will occur before Armageddon, and the conspiracy will be a failure, because the governments will learn that they have been duped or tricked into becoming parties to the conspiracy.

The Golden Age. February 3, 1932 p. 278

These shall be destroyed with Satan in the battle of Armageddon now preparing.

The Golden Age.  March 2, 1932 p. 350

Thus does the Bible declare who the guilty ones are and what will be the punishment for those who are responsible for leading the nations of Christendom to the battle of Armageddon just ahead.

The Golden Age.  March 16, 1932 p. 357

In many places the clergy have refused to accept the above message as it was brought to them, free of cost, in The Kingdom, The Hope of the World; in other places they have destroyed the booklet. But these petty acts of contempt of the Highest Court will not save them in Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  March 30, 1932 p. 401

The displaced clerks will be nicely cared for, after Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  May 11, 1932 p. 503

Washing up and looking pretty is not working; now is the time to work; the washing up and looking pretty will come along in due time; after Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  June 8, 1932 p. 575

This coming curse, called the 'battle of Armageddon', is just ahead of us, and the prophet mentions it in Isaiah 24:5, 6 in these words: "The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

The Golden Age.  July 6, 1932 p. 638

The invisible and visible armies of Satan and of Jehovah God are assembled now at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  July 6, 1932 p. 652

Jehovah is the God of Battle, and, the time having arrived for the vindication of His name, He will fight the battle of Armageddon for His own name’s sake; and it will result in the complete destruction of oppressive powers and the deliverance of the people.

The Golden Age.  July 6, 1932 p. 652

The “stars” picture the invisible army of Jehovah God, which army will do the destructive work at Armageddon, and against which Big Business and all military powers of earth can do no hurt.

The Golden Age.  July 6, 1932 p. 652

It is plainly written in the sky that your words of this morning are coming to pass. Would like to know more about the Battle of Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  July 6, 1932 p. 668

EVERYBODY was hoping that there might be at least a few months of better times ahead before we land squarely in Armageddon, but now the pope has urged the whole world to join with him in prayer, and knowing from past experience what that means, we can see only a head-on collision ahead.

The Golden Age.  August 3, 1932 p. 686

Thus the Lord God of hosts declares that first He will fight the terrific battle of Armageddon, and break down the Devil's wicked organization so that it will never again he established over mankind.

We stand on the brink of the great Battle of Armageddon, in which the forces of unrighteousness, visible and invisible, will contest with the forces of righteousness, visible and invisible, for the kingdom that has been promised to the people of God.

The Golden Age.  September 14, 1932 p. 798

This work done, then the great battle of Armageddon will be fought.

The Golden Age.  September 28, 1932 p. 828

Vindication One is a solemn warning to "Christendom" and to all the world of what is impending in Armageddon.

It appears to me that this is God's "due time" to stir Burmah, and that makes me realize the nearness of Armageddon.

In the now approaching battle of Armageddon, which will be fought by God's heavenly organization against Satan and his wicked organization in heaven and earth, Christ Jesus will thus dash the nations to shivers so that their selfish organizations will nevermore be found again.

The Golden Age.  November 9, 1932 p. 94

While this destructive work is proceeding and the battle of Armageddon is thus being fought it will indeed be a terrifying time for the people, and multitudes upon multitudes will lose their lives. (Ps. 110:5, 6).

The Golden Age.  November 9, 1932 p. 94

Quite likely the same one that slew the firstborn of Egypt in defense of the name of Jehovah God was the one selected for the task, and that one may have been and quite probably was "the Messenger of the Covenant", the One that will have the direction of the work of vindicating Jehovah's name in the battle of Armageddon,

The Golden Age.  November 23, 1932 p. 123

God's purpose is to destroy all the wicked. The system of which he is a part is going to be destroyed. Jehovah's witnesses, in the main, it seems, will live beyond the battle of Armageddon, in which this destruction generally will take place.
