1933 Preparation

After the eviction of Satan from heaven Christ Jesus, accompanied by his holy angels, makes an inspection of things on the earth, particularly with reference to the organization of “Christendom” and of his own faithful and true people. Then preparation begins for the great and final battle which is known as “Armageddon”.  Jehovah calls upon Satan to get ready for that fight.

Preparation.  1933. p. 6

Jehovah declares his purpose to vindicate his holy name at Armageddon; hence it is designated in his Word “the battle of that great day of God Almighty”.  The organization of Jehovah, symbolized by Mount Zion, is the place of the assembly of his troops; hence that place is called “Armageddon”.

Preparation.  1933. p. 12

The fact that Jehovah foretold by his prophet concerning the coming of the battle of Armageddon and that he would prepare for it is proof that the battle will be fought; and the further fact that he has now opened these prophecies to the understanding of his anointed is evidence that the time of the battle is near; hence the prophecy is of profound interest to the anointed.

Preparation.  1933. p. 17, 18

And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.“-Rev. 16 : 13,14, 16; see Light, Book Two, page 42.

Preparation.  1933. p. 19

That work being completed, then Christ Jesus suddenly or straightway comes to the temple: “He shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.”  From that time forward to the time of the battle of Armageddon is designated in the Scriptures “the day of his preparation”.

Preparation.  1933. p. 21

All who come over the “highway”, as above mentioned, must be informed before Armageddon, and this work Jehovah has committed to his anointed remnant, giving them the privilege to carry the “fruits” of his kingdom and bear them to others that they might know that he is the Almighty God.

Preparation.  1933. p. 40

Jehovah has provided the ways and means and has sent his witnesses into all nations of “Christendom”, and in the spring of 1933 a united witness work was given in seventy- eight different nations of the earth. The preparation of the people for the great battle of Armageddon progresses.
Preparation.  1933. p. 43

The gathering of the remnant to Zion, God’s organization, is not for rest and idleness, but to be prepared for work and to do the work of bearing testimony of Jehovah, and continuing this up to the time of Armageddon.  God’s anointed people, therefore, must be completely separate and distinct from Satan’s organization.

Preparation.  1933. p. 43

The gathering of the remnant of Zion began after Satan’s organization was cast out of heaven; and after that the cry speaks of Babylon as being still in existence, showing that the cry, in fulfillment of the prophecy, must go forth at the present time and before the battle of Armageddon.  It is therefore the present work of the remnant; hence we behold the prophecy in course of fulfillment preparatory fort he great day of God Almighty.

Preparation.  1933. p. 43, 44

This marks the time of Jehovah’s organization giving birth to her children, and which means that all such will be taught of God in the temple and will have great peace and be prepared for the time of Armageddon and what shall follow.

Preparation.  1933. p. 50, 51

All of these shall fall at Armageddon, and Jehovah’s forces are moving into position for the attack. (Jer. 25:15,16)

Preparation.  1933. p. 94, 95

“Heldai,” the remnant, being in the world and having a transient existence here, is no part of the world but endures through Armageddon, and hence is long-lived.

Preparation.  1933. p. 99

If they will avert the great calamity of going into captivity to Satan’s organization and therefore falling at Armageddon, they must follow closely the Word of God as set forth by his prophets and which Word was written for the special aid and comfort of the temple class.

Preparation.  1933. p. 117, 118

After the “king of Babylon” (which is Satan) and “that nation” (the invisible part of Satan’s organization) had been cast out of heaven with great fury Jehovah’s zeal for Zion moved him to make preparation for the final punishment of the wicked organization, which punishment he will inflict at Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 121

Many prophecies show that many people will discern God’s organization before Armageddon and will acknowledge that Jehovah is not at all responsible for the woes and wickedness now in the earth and that the kingdom of Jehovah is the world’s true remedy.

Preparation.  1933. p. 124

To save them he first brings forth his King, ousts Satan and his organization from heaven, stops the World War for the sake of his elect, and then sends forth his obedient ones prepared and equipped as his witnesses to rep- resent him in further preparation for Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 126

The truth must reach the ears of many people, that they may identify themselves as on the Lord’s side, and this must be done before Armageddon; and this was foreshadowed by Solomon’s prayer. (1 Ki. 8:41-43)

Preparation.  1933. p. 139

The faithful remnant render themselves in full obedience to Jehovah’s commandment and his organization instructions, and he is pleased to use them in the temple service and to continue to prepare them for Armageddon, which is just ahead.

Preparation.  1933. p. 141

That statement of the prophecy is a comfort to the remnant because it means that Jehovah will act in their behalf and in behalf of all mankind who stand on the side of Jehovah and remain steadfast at Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 144

“Organized Christendom,” particularly the commercial part thereof, has heaped up much silver and fine gold, but this will not save her from destruction at Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 145

He sees the wicked conspiracy that is formed and being prosecuted against his faithful anointed ones, and he protects them, bestowing upon them his name, and brings them into his fortress, and there they shall dwell in safety and see the mighty power of Jehovah God and of his Executive Officer enforce the penal decree or doom against the enemy at Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 153

Christ the great warrior will whip the nations at Armageddon and thus compel them to be peaceable.

Preparation.  1933. p. 161

Many scriptures strongly indicate that at least some of the faithful remnant will be on earth and see Armageddon while in the flesh.

Preparation.  1933. p. 170

Jehovah visits his own flock and doubles his blessings to them during the Elisha period of the work because of their faithfulness in obedience to his commandments. God visits his own flock, and this he does as Jehovah of hosts to prepare his flock for war.  Says the prophet: ‘The house of Judah the Lord hath made as his goodly horse in the battle’; and on this he rides to Armageddon. (Ps. 68: 32,33)  Likewise Jehovah’s organization, of which the remnant form a part, are belligerent, fired with zeal, are fearless and entirely subjected to the Lord, and this is because they have received from the Lord a double portion of the Elijah spirit.

Preparation.  1933. p. 177, 178

At Armageddon Christ and his army will harass, press upon and drive before him the enemy under the leadership of Gog, and all the host of Satan’s crowd, and will completely break those who have hitherto been oppressors.

Preparation.  1933. p. 179

The tire of Armageddon shall devour the whole system, including Satan, the chief “cedar”, and the war-axe of Jehovah’s great Chopper is now ‘laid at the root of the forest’.-Matt. 3 : 10.

Preparation.  1933. p. 191

Those who are on the Lord’s side know now by Jehovah’s Word that he will settle the everlasting-covenant breakers at Armageddon, and that this will not be by conflict between the nations, but by the battle of the great day of God Almighty.

Preparation.  1933. p. 203

Now that the “man of sin”, “the son of perdition,” foreshadowed by Judas, has been revealed, will he do a like service for the “sheep merchants” before the time of Armageddon? If so, this would show that company so doing as worthy of death.-Ex. 21:16.

Preparation.  1933. p. 205

The remnant must endure the stress of that siege while in the flesh, and Jehovah will provide all needed strength and protection for them.  They are vessels for his use in the war.  That at least a part of the remnant will be on earth during Armageddon is supported by numerous scriptures.

Preparation.  1933. p. 222

This shows that the remnant must first be saved from Babylon and prepared before the battle of Armageddon is fought.

Preparation.  1933. p. 227

The prophetic picture now moves back from the time of Armageddon to a time approximately when the Lord appears at the temple, and is in the nature of a prelude to the beginning of chapter thirteen of the prophecy.

Preparation.  1933. p. 229

When Satan’s organization meets defeat at Armageddon, that will be a time of great mourning by Satan’s crowd. (Joel 3: 11-14; Rev. 16:36; Ezek. 31:15) The “MOURNING IN JERUSALEM”, which is now over for ever, is, in Zechariah’s prophecy, likened unto what yet awaits those of Satan’s organization.

Preparation.  1933. p. 234

In like manner Jehovah tells the enemy now to prepare for the final war at Armageddon, because it is Jehovah’s purpose to clean out the enemy completely.

Preparation.  1933. p. 257

It is manifest in the light of other scriptures that the prophecy applies during the temple-building work and before Armageddon is fought, and is a part of the work of cleansing or preparing the temple class.

Preparation.  1933. p. 265, 266

At Armageddon all the enemies of God, after having been cut off from his organization, shall die, as this prophecy declares.

Preparation.  1933. p. 268, 269

Such is the happy state or condition of the faithful remnant whom Jehovah preserves even through Armageddon and for a temporary work on earth thereafter.

Preparation.  1933. p. 269

The prophecy next following definitely shows that the “third part” left applies to the remnant. The cleansing and refining work of the sanctuary class must all be done before Armageddon, because such is a part of the preparatory work.

Preparation.  1933. p. 269

It is those who withstand the fire and who are refined that are taken into the temple and, says the prophet, “I . . . WILL REFINE THEM AS SILVER TS REFINED, AND WILL TRY THEM AS GOLD IS TRIED”;  and this must be done before these are approved by the Lord and placed in the temple building, and this of necessity must precede the time of Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 272

Jehovah has built up the temple class as a people for his name. The remnant now on earth he sends forth as his witnesses, and he commands them to declare that he is God, that his kingdom under Christ is at hand, that Satan is the enemy of God and of man, and that Satan and his wicked organization shall be destroyed at Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 276

‘The day of Jehovah of hosts’ began in 1914, and the climax will be reached in the vindication of his holy name at Armageddon; hence that fight is called “the battle of that great day of God Almighty”.

Preparation.  1933. p. 281, 282Preparation

“THY SPOIL HULL BE DIVIDED IN THE MIDST OF THEE. ” (14:1) This part of the prophecy was accomplished in the year 1918, when the Elijah work was killed. The prophecy shows that this dividing of the spoils must occur before Armageddon and, in fact’, prior to the gathering of God’s people in the temple and their anointing there.

Preparation.  1933. p. 282, 283

Thereafter and before Armageddon God makes a covenant of peace with his people, which he will keep perpetually. (Ezek. 34:25; Vindication, Book Two, page 240)

Preparation.  1933. p. 283

God notifies the enemy of the attack and tells him to get ready for it, and He assembles his own troops in his organization on Mount Zion; and thus Satan is compelled to gather his forces to Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 284

But before the great battle of Armageddon is fought Satan attacks God’s organization on earth and spoils it, as stated in verses one and two of this prophecy.

Preparation.  1933. p. 285

The prophecy of Zechariah deals specifically with those who are being prepared for the final battle of Armageddon, and, at this particular point in the prophecy, the faithful part that is prepared for Jehovah’s use is made prominent.

Preparation.  1933. p. 289

The “great multitude” will have nothing to do with the battle of Armageddon, and those who yield to Satan and join his organization do so before the battle is fought.

Preparation.  1933. p. 290

That part of Zechariah’s prophecy (14: 1,2) has been fulfilled, and the preparation work continues, looking forward to the great battle of Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 291

Beginning with 1914 and until Armageddon, therefore, appears to be a period of time set aside as peculiar to itself. “BUT IT SHALL BE ONE DAY [AND IT SHALL BE A DAY BY ITSELF, Roth.], WHICH SHALL BE KNOWN TO THE LORD, NOT DAY, NOR NIGHT; BUT IT SHALL COME TO PASS,TIIAT AT EVENING TIME IT SHALL BE LIGHT.” (14:7) The period of time from the beginning of the kingdom until the vindication of Jehovah’s name at Armageddon is a period of time separate and distinct from the thousand-year reign of Christ, and is therefore “A DAY BY ITSELF”.

Preparation.  1933. p. 302

The Jonadab class receive the life-giving waters before Armageddon, and the rest of mankind (symbolized by “the great sea”) will receive the truth beyond or after Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 305

This further supports the conclusion that the ‘taking of the city’, mentioned in Zechariah 14:1,2, is not in the future, but that it took place in 1918.  The army of Satan gathered to Armageddon will not weaken or destroy the safety and security of God’s remnant.

Preparation.  1933. p. 309

All these Satan has assembled at Armageddon, and all intelligent creation awaits the striking of the war gong: “THEN SHALL THE LORD GO FORTH, AND FIGHT AGAINST THOSE NATIONS, AS WHEN HE FOUGHT IN THE DAY OF BATTLE.)” (14:3) Zechariah’s vision is now thrilling!

Preparation.  1933. p. 310

Since the Scriptures show that Jehovah will fight for his people at Armageddon as he did in the days of old, we may be sure that he will employ similar means to do this fighting and which will include the sword, lightning and fire, and other spectacular means, that the people may know that the battle is the Lord’s and not man’s.

Preparation.  1933. p. 313

Before the walls of Jerusalem Sennacherib had his army, which he thought to be invincible, and the Lord smote 185,000 of them in one night. (Isa. 37:33-38)  At Armageddon Jehovah will smite them with the plague, while in battle formation, and they will know that the smiting comes from the great God of the universe, and not from man.

Preparation.  1933. p. 315

At the present time selfishness is uppermost in every part of the organization of this world. Every worldly man is looking to his own interest.  At Armageddon such selfishness will become even more marked, and concerning this Zechariah prophesies: “AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS IN THAT DAY, THAT A GREAT TUMULT [GREAT CONFUSION] FROM THE LORD SHALL BE AMONG THEM; AND THEY SHALL LAY HOLD EVERY ONE ON THE HAND OF HIS NEIGHBOUR, AND HIS HAND SHALL RISE UP AGAINST THE HAND OF HIS NEIGHBOUR.” (14:13)

Preparation.  1933. p. 316

Likewise in their confusion during Armageddon, and when the enemy fight against one another, Jehovah by his army will take a hand in the fight, that the enemy may know that it is Jehovah God that is fighting against them.-Judg. 7:23-25; 8:1-21.

Preparation.  1933. p. 319

At Armageddon all the sons of Zion will stand firmly together: “AND JUDAH ALSO SHALL FIGHT AT JERUSALEM; AND THE WEALTH OF ALL THE HEATHEN ROUND ABOUT SHALL BE GATHERED TOGETHER, GOLD, AND SILVER, AND APPAREL, IN GREAT ABUNDANCE.” (14:14)  This is further corroborative proof that the “Judeans”, that is, those that are faithful to Jehovah, his remnant, must be at Armageddon and do their part, which is not fighting with carnal weapons; but their part is to sing the praises of Jehovah, just as the Israelites did when fighting in Jehoshaphat’s day. (2 Chron. 20:l-23)

Preparation.  1933. p. 319

No doubt they will use similar things at Armageddon, and also other equipment, such as tanks, airplanes, motor trucks and like instruments; hence the plague here mentioned certainly means that the Lord will cripple and destroy every part of Satan’s war equipment.  Nothing of the enemy will be spared.  All must know that Jehovah is the only God and that he is fighting this great battle.

Preparation.  1933. p. 321

By this means the meek, or teachable, receive the mark of identification in their foreheads and are given opportunity to take their stand on the side of Jehovah, that they may be shielded in the day when Jehovah, with his invincible host, fights the battle of Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 326

Just how soon Armageddon will be fought, no man knows; but regardless of the time, Jehovah’s faithful witnesses with joy will continue their work and praise to Jehovah.

Preparation.  1933. p. 326, 327

Jehovah will preserve some human creatures, taking them through the great battle of Armageddon, and it is to such the prophet refers, when he says: “AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS, THAT EVERYONE THAT IS LEFT OF ALL THE NATIONS WHICH CAME AGAINST JERUSALEM, SHALL EVEN GO UP FROM YEAR TO YEAR TO WORSHIP THE KING, THE LORD OF ROSTS, AND TO KEEP THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES.” (14:16)

Preparation.  1933. p. 327

After Armageddon, however, Christ, as the great High Priest and King of Jehovah, will convert the world in truth and in fact.

Preparation.  1933. p. 328

It seems probable that some of the remnant may be used for a time after Armageddon in directing the people in the way of the kingdom.

Preparation.  1933. p. 329

At Armageddon the Lord will destroy all instruments and symbols of war and destroy war itself. (9:10)

Preparation.  1933. p. 335

The prophecy of Zechariah shows that prior to and at the day of the battle of Armageddon every one on Jehovah’s side will be wholly devoted unto Jehovah of hosts.

Preparation.  1933. p. 337, 338

The prophecy of Zechariah conclusively proves that “the day of his preparation” began with the coming of Christ Jesus to the temple for judgment and continues until Armageddon.

Preparation.  1933. p. 341

The overwhelming testimony of the prophecy and of the supporting facts shows that the cleansing of the sanctuary has been accomplished, and this indicates that Armageddon draws nigh.

Preparation.  1933. p. 341

1933 The Golden Age

On the other hand, the arrogance of the masters will not be broken until Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  January 4, 1933 p. 196

The thing that will end it is an act of Providence, and no mistake, for God Almighty will soon end earth’s troubles at Armageddon by putting an end to the trouble-makers themselves, including the biggest trouble-maker of all, Satan the Devil.

The Golden Age.  January 4, 1933 p. 217

They give up all for the privilege of being associated with Jesus in the present work of magnifying God’s name in the earth and proclaiming the onrush of Armageddon, which will fully vindicate it.

The Golden Age.  February 1, 1933 p. 272

We are now studying the “Jehovah’s Executioner” by Brother Akashi reading the new issue Watchtower, and it encourage us much, for the final battle of Armageddon is very near, and at hand.

The Golden Age.  February 1, 1933 p. 273

That is one particular business that will he settled at Armageddon, and settled for all time, settled right.

The Golden Age.  February 1, 1933 p. 282

It seems as though every way a burglar turns in these days he meets with some discouragement. It is almost enough to make Big Business turn honest, like other folks, but not quite. That job will be done in Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  February 15, 1933 p. 299

At Armageddon, just ahead, as we believe, the Almighty will show His irresistible power in behalf of His own honor and for the benefit of all people of good will, by putting to death all deceivers and oppressors.

The Golden Age.  February 15, 1933 p. 314

The great battle of Armageddon is approaching, at which time the final conflict between the forces of Satan and those of Jehovah will take place.

The Golden Age.  March 1, 1933 p. 324

Armageddon will be the battle of the great day of God Almighty and will soon be fought, and at it Satan’s organization will go down.

The Golden Age.  March 1, 1933 p. 324

Jehovah God will now have the people informed of the truth in order that they may take their stand on one side or the other before Armageddon.
The Golden Age.  March 1, 1933 p. 325

These are the ones that will identify themselves as Jehovah’s people and will be carried through the great conflict of Armageddon and be made safe.-2 Kings 10:15-25.

The Golden Age.  March 1, 1933 p. 326

Armageddon will destroy Satan’s organization and will be followed by the righteous and blessed rule under Christ Jesus, earth’s rightful King.

The Golden Age.  March 1, 1933 p. 326

This proof He declares in His Word He will give fully and completely at the great battle of Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  March 1, 1933 p. 350

Like him they are carrying on the work of going from door to door, and over the radio and otherwise are giving the people instruction in the Law of God, which the people must have if they are to survive Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  March 15, 1933 p. 382

Armageddon will be terrible upon all nations, but particularly upon the realm of “Christendom” because within that realm is found the greatest opposition to the message of Jehovah’s truth. Jehovah says concerning that time: “For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished?

The Golden Age.  March 29, 1933 p. 390

Mr. Charlesworth has probably read more literature about the Battle of Waterloo than about the Battle of Armageddon. He has probably studied Shakespeare and other dramatists, ancient and modern, English and foreign, more than he has the prophecies of the Holy Scriptures.

The Golden Age.  March 29, 1933 p. 394

Judge Rutherford tells us in his four-page folder that the “great Battle of Armageddon is approaching, at which time the final conflict between the forces of Satan and those of Jehovah will take place.”

The Golden Age.  March 29, 1933 p. 394

After Armageddon, if the old pile survives that long, it will be a joy to the people, no doubt, to remove the eyesore and erect in its place something not to the glory of man but to the praise and honor the Creator himself.

The Golden Age.  March 29, 1933 p. 399

The final evil will be reached at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  April 12, 1933 p. 478

In his last prophetic utterance when on earth Jesus foretold Armageddon, describing it as a time of “tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be”.

The Golden Age.  April 12, 1933 p. 478

Great trouble came upon the world at the flood, at the fall of Jerusalem, and at the fall of Rome, and at other times, but the greatest of all will be at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  April 12, 1933 p. 478

Up to the present time Jehovah God has not taken a hand in the troubles that are afflicting the peoples of the world. His time to fight, as by Him, is at the battle of Armageddon, otherwise called in the Scriptures the “battle of that great day of God Almighty”.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 453

At Revelation, chapter sixteen, it is written that Satan is gathering all nations to Armageddon to the battle of the great day of God Almighty, and that war will involve the whole world, and especially will involve the nations known as “Christendom”. “Christendom” will suffer the greatest calamities and loss, as the Scriptures plainly state. The reason that the war is called “Armageddon” is this: “Armageddon” means ‘the place of assembly of Jehovah’s troops’.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 454

That means that Jehovah assembles His own forces under Christ, and by His skillful maneuvering He compels Satan to bring his army up against God’s organization, and hence God forces the fight at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 454

At the battle of Gibeon Jehovah threw down great chunks of ice from the heavens and slew a multitude of the enemy, and He made the sun and the moon to stand still while Joshua finished the slaying job. There He fought for His people, and He will fight for them again at Armageddon.-Joshua 10:10-13; Isaiah 28:21.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 455

These ancient wars are recorded in the Bible, as stated at 1 Corinthians 10:11, as mere samples showing what shall come to pass upon the nations of “Christendom” that oppose Jehovah and gather together against God’s organization at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 455

Concerning that war at Armageddon it is written, in Jeremiah, chapter 25: “[Jehovah] hath a controversy with the nations; . . . he will give them that are wicked to the sword.” (Jeremiah 23:31) Continuing to describe this coming battle of Armageddon, God’s prophet Jeremiah says: “Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind [of trouble] shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 455

In further proof that Armageddon will be the greatest war and most terrible slaughter eyer known to man, Jesus says: “For then shall he great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.”-Matthew 24:21,22.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 455

In the twenty-first Psalm it is written that Jehovah God will find out all His enemies and shall destroy them at Armageddon and none shall escape.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 455

A few men may control all the money of this world and all the offices and exercise all the power of government, but these things will avail them nothing at Armageddon. These rulers have allied themselves with the shepherds or pastors of hypocritical religion; and as long as they do this, Jehovah declares that they are His enemies and shall find no way of escape.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 456

Why longer stand in peril? Why listen to the words of blind guides? Those who remain with Satan’s organization will die in the great battle of Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 457

But how may we know that the time has come for the expression of Jehovah’s anger and that Armageddon is near?

The Golden Age.  April 26, 1933 p. 457

The vision has reference to Jehovah God and His purposes, as expressed by and through His kingdom, and only those who now get an insight or vision of such truths and act in harmony therewith will escape at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  May 10, 1933 p. 484

The Greater Jehu, Christ Jesus, is proceeding with His army to the war of Armageddon to execute Jehovah’s vengeance against all of His foes.

The Golden Age.  May 10, 1933 p. 487

Up to this time God has not taken a hand in the troubles that afflict the peoples of earth, but He declares that He will rise up at Armageddon and come forth and smite the nations of “Christendom” to the dust and that these shall fall and not rise again.

The Golden Age.  May 10, 1933 p. 487

God has taken no hand in the trouble thus far, but He declares that soon at Armageddon He will smite Satan and all of his organization both visible and invisible.

The Golden Age.  May 10, 1933 p. 487

Jehovah permits His witnesses now to be persecuted by the powers of “Christendom” that His witnesses may have opportunity to prove their integrity toward Him, and that the leaders of “Christendom” may convict themselves before Jehovah and meet their just fate at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  May 10, 1933 p. 489

Following the battle of Armageddon Jehovah by and through Christ will bring to the peoples of earth a real holy period of a thousand years of everlasting peace and prosperity that shall surpass the fondest dreams of man.

The Golden Age.  May 10, 1933 p. 490

Before this happy condition prevails, however, all of God’s enemies will be destroyed in the great battle of Armageddon just ahead.

The Golden Age.  May 10, 1933 p. 512

The next great event is the battle of Armageddon, which will result in the destruction of Satan’s organization.
The Golden Age.  May 24, 1933 p. 516

With the conclusion of the battle of Armageddon there will never be another war, but peace will abide in the earth for ever.

The Golden Age.  May 24, 1933 p. 517

The battle of Armageddon comes on apace.

The Golden Age.  June 7, 1933 p. 573

The acts of Satan’s earthly representatives in identifying themselves must first take place before the final slaughter of the opposers of God at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  June 7, 1933 p. 574

This may be taken as an indication that some of the remnant will be on earth even after Armageddon is fought and will then have some more work to do in the name of the Lord and to His praise and glory.

The Golden Age.  June 21, 1933 p. 606

One of the things that will be slain at Armageddon is the interest system.

The Golden Age.  July 5, 1933 p. 630

For their own safety in Armageddon, which lies just ahead, the people should inform themselves as to whether the clergymen who everywhere persecute Jehovah’s witnesses represent the Devil, as Judge Rutherford insists that they do, or whether they represent Jehovah God, which as their fruits show could not be the case.

The Golden Age.  July 19, 1933 p. 644

Readers of The Golden Age are well aware from historical facts what kind of blessings flow these benedictions and will confidently look for a series of disappointments for Mr. Roosevelt, culminating-who knows?-in Armageddon, the crowning trouble of all history.

The Golden Age.  July 19, 1933 p. 667

Americans and those who fear Jehovah God would do well to desert all three branches of the Devil’s organization and to come squarely over on the side of Jehovah God before it is too late, and the storm of Armageddon bursts in all its fury upon them.

The Golden Age.  July 19, 1933 p. 671

His judgment written shows that such opposers will find no way of escape at the execution of His judgment at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  July 30, 1933 p. 8

The vision has reference to Jehovah God and His purposes, as expressed by and through His kingdom, and only those who now get an insight or vision of such truths and act in harmony therewith will escape at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  July 30, 1933 p. 11

Let everyone be free to take his own course; but bear in mind that only those who turn away from Satan’s organization, and take their stand firmly and honestly on the side of Jehovah God, and who are then guided by His Word, will be spared at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  July 30, 1933 p. 12

The Greater Jehu, Christ Jesus, is proceeding with His army to the war of Armageddon to execute Jehovah’s vengeance against all of His foes.

The Golden Age.  July 30, 1933 p. 14

Up to this time God has not taken a hand in the troubles that afflict the peoples of earth, but He declares that He will rise up at Armageddon and come forth and smite the nations of “Christendom” to the dust and that these shall fall and not rise again.

The Golden Age.  July 30, 1933 p. 14

God has taken no hand in the trouble thus far, but He declares that soon at Armageddon He will smite Satan and all of his organization both visible and invisible.

The Golden Age.  July 30, 1933 p. 14

July 30, 1933 p. 15

Following the battle of Armageddon Jehovah by and through Christ will bring to the peoples of earth a real holy period of a thousand years of everlasting peace and prosperity that shall surpass the fondest dreams of man.

The Golden Age.  July 30, 1933 p. 15

The Lord then pointed out that between the beginning of the events marking the end of tho world and the beginning of the great battle of Armageddon Jehovah would give the people a clear understanding of His purpose and cause a wide witness to be given concerning the kingdom of God.

The Golden Age.  August 2, 1933 p. 677

Those who are thus taken through the great trouble will be the first ones to receive the blessings of the government of righteousness.  When the great battle of Armageddon is done “Christendom” will be completely done and destroyed.

The Golden Age.  August 2, 1933 p. 678

Satan knows that his time is short until the great battle of Armageddon, which will then be decisive as to who is supreme and at which time Satan’s organization shall be destroyed.

The Golden Age.  August 16, 1933 p. 713

His judgment written shows that such opposers will find no way of escape at the execution of His judgment at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  August 16, 1933 p. 723

The Times suggests that the word “perplexity” seems to signify “without trade”, and the word does have that significance, but an examination of the word seems to indicate that it also conveys the thought that there is “no way out”; in other words, Armageddon is sure to come, and all hopes of deliverance by any other route are vain.

The Golden Age.  August 16, 1933 p. 734

Everything indicates that all the enemies of the Lord will he in essential agreement just when Armageddon puts the quietus on their activities.

The Golden Age.  September 27, 1933 p. 813

We are not discussing at this time whom Jonah represents, but from the foregoing it is plainly manifest that he represents those entrusted with a warning, rebuking work to the great politicians ensnared in the Devil’s religious systems in the interim between the Lord’s coming to His temple and Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  September 27, 1933 p. 828

It contains more than a hint of Armageddon in its declaration that the adversaries of Jehovah shall be broken in pieces when He thunders upon them.

The Golden Age.  October 11, 1933 p. 28

The phantom of prosperity is just around the corner, the big corner, Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  October 25, 1933 p. 42

Page title: “PREPARATION” FOR ARMAGEDDON

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 65

Section heading: “Preparation” for Armageddon

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 67

Do you believe in the things that Judge Rutherford sets forth? They are true. “What are you going to do about it? We stand on the threshold of Armageddon, foretold for six thousand years, at which time Jehovah God will resume full control of earth’s affairs, and at which time, if you are not heart and soul in sympathy with the New King, you will most certainly die.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 67

The very fact that Preparation for Armageddon is off the press is proof enough that the time has come to prepare for the event itself; so, if your heart is right, this is meant as a helping hand to get into the Watch Tower organization and do something.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 67

It is this Mighty God, the God of Battle, the God of War, that, seeing Armageddon is necessary for the vindication of His name, and the cleansing of the earth, is maneuvering all the nations of the earth into open antagonism agains Jerusalem, His organization.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 68

He defied the remnant (and the Jonadabs), becomes a wall of fire about His people, and at Armageddon vindicates His witnesses and His word.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 68

Upon this stone eventually the eyes of all that live will rest when He shall have driven Satan’s organization into ruin and have vindicated His Father’s name in Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 69

They go quietly about the Father’s work, content to be unnoticed and unknown, but they have an important part to play in God’s organization and, very properly, have a grand share in the battle of Armageddon and the vindication of His name.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 69

During those days, while waiting for Jehovah to show His hand, the remnant passed through a great period of mourning. A similar mourning will overtake Satan’s organization at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 70

In fact, they shall sec the lifeblood of their enemies spilled in Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 71

The Jonadab class receive the life-giving waters before Armageddon and the rest of mankind, symbolized by the “great sea”, afterwards.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 71

The Jonadab class will pass through Armageddon and will witness the vindication of Jehovah’s name.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 71

In the battle of Armageddon Lucifer, now Satan, the prince (god) of this world, will take his last stand as the mimic god.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 71

Section heading: The Battle of Armageddon

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 72

From the spring of 1918 to Armageddon is the day of “Preparation” of the forces that will participate in the “battle of the great day of God Almighty”, earth’s final and conclusive conflict.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 72

At Armageddon every one that is on Jehovah’s side will he wholly devoted to Him.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 72

The thousand-year reign of Christ is a day by itself, beginning, not with the beginning of the reign of Christ, but with the vindication of God’s name at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 73

We conclude with a single paragraph from this wonderful hook, which should he digested by every person in the world who loves Jehovah God and is hoping to pass through Armageddon into peace:

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 73

Just now a new class is coming to the fore, a class plainly foreshown in Holy Writ, a class that joins itself to earth’s new King, participates in the witness work, or, at any rate, observes it with friendly eye, passes unscathed through the battle of the great day of God Almighty (Armageddon), receives the Lord’s word of approval and the promise of everlasting life and goes over into the golden age of glory and peace and joy and divine blessing everywhere told in Holy Writ, and that every decent and honest person on earth wants to see in full operation.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 75

Already, Judge Rutherford warned, hundreds of transcription machines are in the land, and will be used in halls and public places to freely convey to the people the all-important news that Armageddon impends, in which hour God’s name will he vindicated, His enemies and His friends ushered into everlasting life here on earth.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 75

And Armageddon will stop it absolutely. Really, you may be much better off than he is.

The Golden Age.  November 8, 1933 p. 93

In Armageddon the great Jehovah God is going to take care of the eternal interests of that man.

The Golden Age.  December 6, 1933 p. 146

Talk of tribulation now: wait till the battle of Armageddon! There is a wide distinction between the trouble that is today upon the world and the battle of Armageddon, which is the battle of the great day of God Almighty. (Revelation 16:14)

The Golden Age.  December 6, 1933 p. 154

That part begun by Jehovah will hp the battle of the great day of God Almighty, which is sometimes called “the battle of Armageddon” because Revelation 16:13-16 describes the battle as taking place at Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  December 6, 1933 p. 158

1933 Watchtower

The acts of Satan’s earthly representatives in identifying themselves must first take place before the final slaughter at Armageddon, and the opportunity is being furnished to them to so identify them- selves; and this they are doing after hearing the testimony given by Jehovah’s witnesses.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  January 1, 1933 p. 7

This morning‘s Year Book lesson recalled page 150 of Preservation and its clear statement that “It may therefore be expected that every part of Satan’s wicked organization will continue to march on to Armageddon with the full determination to completely destroy God’s remnant and to stop all witness work to Jehovah’s name upon the earth. There is no alternative left for the remnant. They must take the course which God has pointed out for them, knowing that their continuous unselfish devotion to the Most High will insure his preservation and deliverance of them. ’’

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  February 1, 1933 p. 46

All who do not honor the name of Jehovah will suffer at Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  February 15, 1933 p.56

It is not correct to say that Armageddon has begun and that the worst part is yet future.  There is a wide distinction between the trouble that is upon the world and the battle of Armageddon, which is the battle of the great day of God Almighty.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 68

Armageddon

Has the battle of Armageddon begun?  Scripturally the answer is, No.  When we understand the meaning of Armageddon we can easily see that the battle has not begun.  The highest part of a mountain the Scriptures designate as a hill. A mountain symbolically represents Jehovah’s organization.  The word Mageddon means a place for the assembly of troops, while the prefix Ar or Har, used to form the word Armageddon means the high mountain or hill where the troops of Jehovah are assembled or gathered together.  These troops assembled at Armageddon are Jehovah’s troops, including the remnant on earth.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 71

The battle is often called by the name of the place where it is fought, and hence the battle is said to be that of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 71

Over against him is Gag, the chief field marshal of Satan the Devil, and who leads in the conspiracy against Jehovah ‘s anointed, and who also leads the enemy forces at the great battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 72

Satan sends forth his forces under Gog against the assembled troops of Jehovah at Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 72

Satan began the tribulation in 1914, and Jehovah stopped the wholesale slaughter in 1918 and thus shortened the days of tribulation for his own purposes. The tribulation was begun by Satan and carried on in unrighteousness; but soon Jehovah will take an active part therein, by the hand of Christ Jesus, and will “cut it short in righteousness”.  That part begun by Jehovah will be the battle of the great day of God Almighty and which is sometimes called “the battle of Armageddon”.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 73

8.  Distinguish between the trouble now upon the world and that of the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 74

22, 23 Explain whether the opposing armies are assembled at Armageddon and whether that battle has begun Just what is meant by the expression “the battle of Armageddon”?

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 74

Show that the battle of Armageddon will be the act of Jehovah and a work of righteousness. What does Jehovah, by his prophet Jeremiah (25 :33-36), say of the desolation which shall then be wrought?

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  March 1, 1933 p. 74

This part here pictured shows that Jehovah determines the time when the final battle of the day of God Almighty, the battle of Armageddon, is to be fought and when it shall end.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  April 1, 1933 p. 102

As the witnesses of Jehovah they make known to the rulers and to the people that at
Armageddon the rod or power of Christ, turned into that which is like a serpent, and used to inflict evil or just punishment upon Satan’s organization, will demonstrate to all that Jehovah is the Almighty God over the whole earth.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  April 1, 1933 p. 104

Anti-typically, the two “rods” are now proclaiming against each other; and when Jehovah takes an active part in the execution of his judgment at Armageddon, his power or rod of evil wielded by his “right hand”, Christ Jesus, the great executor, completely swallow up all evil and wickedness that Satan and his serpent agents are putting upon the people.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  April 1, 1933 p. 104, 105

It is our desire to continue in this work until Armageddon, which must be very near.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  April 15, 1933 p. 127

This declaration of vengeance must be made between the time of the coming of the Lord to his temple and Armageddon.  There would be no occasion to so declare his vengeance after Armageddon is fought.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  April 15, 1933 p. 134

Satan is gathering all the nations to Armageddon to make a final war against God and against his anointed.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  May 1, 1933 p. 137

The temple company constitute Jehovah’s witnesses on earth and to these has been committed the testimony of Jesus Christ, and they are sent forth to make known the message of the kingdom before Armageddon. (Rev. 12:17)

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  May 15, 1933 p. 154

The time has come for Jehovah to make known his name in the earth, and he will make this known through his Word and through the manifestation of his power at the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  June 1, 1933 p. 174

This prophecy is also an assurance that the kingdom under Christ will stand for ever. (Dan. 7 : 22,27,28) The concluding part of the vision of this picture shows the complete victory for Jehovah and his kingdom at Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  June 1, 1933 p. 185

In this day of Jehovah, when the great Prince has taken his power and reigns, and in which time all the nations are lining up under the command of the Devil for Armageddon, how foolish it is to apply this prophecy to the papacy alone.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  July 1, 1933 p. 197

Satan at that time and since, seeing that his time is short for the preparation for the great battle of Armageddon, continues to influence the nations of the world to prepare for another great war while he, through Gog, his chief officer invisible, and his devoted sons the clergy, launches a wicked persecution against those who faithfully represent the Most High God on earth.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  July 15, 1933 p. 221

Jehovah declares his purpose to vindicate his holy name at Armageddon; hence it is designated in his Word “the battle of that great day of God Almighty”.  The organization of Jehovah symbolized by Mount Zion is the place of the assembly of his troops; hence that place is called “Armageddon”.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 1, 1933 p. 227

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 1, 1933 p. 228

And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”-Rev. 16:13, 14, 16 ; see Light, Book Two, page 42

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 1, 1933 p. 229

That work being completed, then Christ Jesus suddenly or straightway comes to the temple: “He shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.’’ From that time forward to the time of the battle of Armageddon is designated in the Scriptures “the day of his preparation”.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 1, 1933 p. 229

3.  What is meant by “Armageddon”?

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 1, 1933 p. 233

1, 2.  What are the evidences that the battle of Armageddon is near?

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 1, 1933 p. 233

All who come over the “highway”, as above mentioned, must be informed before Armageddon, and this work Jehovah has committed to his anointed remnant, giving them the privilege to carry the “fruits” of his kingdom and bear them to others that they might know that he is the Almighty God.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 15, 1933 p. 244

The gathering of the remnant to Zion, God’s organization, is not for rest and idleness, but to be prepared for the work and to do the work of bearing testimony of Jehovah, and continuing this up to the time of Armageddon.  God’s anointed people, therefore, must be completely separate and distinct from Satan’s organization. The gathering of the remnant of Zion began after Satan’s organization was cast out of heaven, and after that the cry speaks of Babylon as being still in existence, showing that the cry, in fulfilment of the prophecy, must go forth at the present time and before the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 15, 1933 p. 245

All of these shall fall at Armageddon, and Jehovah’s forces are moving into position for the attack. (Jer. 25 : 15,16)

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 1, 1933 p. 263

“Heldai,” the remnant, being in the world and having a transient existence here, is no part of the world but endures through Armageddon, and hence is long-lived.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 1, 1933 p. 264

After the “king of Babylon” (which is Satan) and “that nation” (the invisible part of Satan’s organization) and “that nation” (the invisible part of Satan’s organization) had been cast out of heaven with great fury Jehovah’s zeal for Zion moved him to make preparation for the final punishment of the wicked organization, which punishment he will inflict at Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1933 p. 278

Many prophecies show that many people will discern God’s organization before Armageddon and will acknowledge that Jehovah is not at all responsible for the woes and wickedness now in the earth and that the kingdom of Jehovah is the world’s true remedy.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1933 p. 279

To save them he first brings forth his King, ousts Satan and his organization from heaven, stops the World War for the sake of his elect, and then sends forth his obedient ones prepared and equipped as his witnesses to represent him in further preparation for Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1933 p. 280

The faithful remnant render themselves in full obedience to Jehovah’s commandment and his organization instructions, and he is pleased to use them in the temple service and to continue to prepare them for Armageddon, which is just ahead.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1933 p. 283

Christ the great warrior will whip the nations at Armageddon and thus compel them to be peaceable.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1933 p. 292

Many scriptures strongly indicate that at least some of the faithful remnant will be on earth and see Armageddon while in the flesh.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1933 p. 294

Says the prophet: ‘The house of Judah the Lord hath made as his goodly horse in the battle’; and on this he rides to Armageddon. (Ps. 68:32, 33)

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1933 p. 296

At Armageddon Christ and his army will harass, press upon and drive before him the enemy under the leadership of Gog, and all the host of Satan’s crowd, and will completely break those who have hitherto been oppressors.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1933 p. 297

The fire of Armageddon shall devour the whole system, including Satan, the chief “cedar”, and the war-axe of Jehovah’s great Chopper is now ‘laid at the root of the forest’.-Matt. 3:10

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 15, 1933 p. 308

Those who are on the Lord’s side know now by Jehovah’s Word that he will settle the everlasting-covenant breakers at Armageddon, and that this will not be by conflict between the nations, but by the battle of the great day of God Almighty.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 15, 1933 p. 311

Now that the “man of sin”, ” the son of perdition,” foreshadowed by Judas, has been revealed, will he do a like service for the “sheep merchants” before the time of Armageddon?  If so, this would show that company so doing as worthy of death.-Ex. 21:16

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 15, 1933 p. 311

The apostles of Jesus suffered the very things that the Lord described in the tenth chapter of Matthew, but it is very evident that in so doing they fulfilled the prophecy only in a partial manner and that the greater fulfillment must come upon those who faithfully follow Jesus and who give the final testimony before Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  November 1, 1933 p. 327

Rather does it show that those who receive their wages with gladness and appreciation are the ones to whom, from that time on, the Lord assigns the work of finishing the testimony and doing the work from then till and at the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  November 15, 1933 p. 342

God’s will concerning the work to bc done just preceding Armageddon is expressed by the psalmist in these words: “This honor have all the saints.”-Ps. 149:9

Jehovah will have a clean and faithful sanctuary class to bear the fruits of his kingdom in this hour of great stress upon the people and at the time just proceeding Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1933 p. 361

This conflict causes one division of the human race to identify themselves as against God, and others to prove their integrity toward God and to take their respective places before Armageddon.
