1928 Governmenet

Habakkuk prophesied concerning the great battle of Armageddon against Satan and his forces of evil and in which Satan’s organization shall fall never to rise again; and how God’s Anointed One shall receive and bless the people.-Hab. 3:1-13

Government.  1928.  p. 82

Satan at that time and since, seeing that his time is short for the preparation for the great battle of Armageddon, continues to influence the nations of the world to prepare for another great war while he, through the clergy, launches a wicked persecution against those who faithfully represent God on earth.

Government.  1928.  p. 180, 181

Now the Devil is gathering together his forces for Armageddon.

Government.  1928.  p. 269

As Satan is now in great haste to gather his forces for Armageddon, every man is being forced to take his stand either on the side of Satan or on the side of the Lord.

Government.  1928.  p. 270

With authority Jesus stated that after the great witness to the nations following the year 1918 is finished there shall then come upon the nations a time of tribulation such as never has been known. That tribulation is Armageddon. (Matt. 24:21,22)

Government.  1928.  p. 271

Because Satan will not willingly relinquish that power and therefore there must be a great fight in the earth between the Lord of righteousness and the Devil, and this is called the “battle of Armageddon”.

Government.  1928.  p. 279

Satan, the evil invisible ruler, is at this time forcing the governments of earth into this condition and gathering them to the great battle of Armageddon, even as the Lord foretold. (Rev. 16: 13-16)  These facts must now be brought to the attention of the people.

Government.  1928.  p. 302, 303

He saw the throngs hurrying on for the great battle of that day, and he wrote: “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.  For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go froth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. . . . And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”-Revelation 16:13, 14, 16.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 260, 261

All of these declarations are false, hence unclean.  It is Satan the enemy, and his organization that proclaim these false messages. Satan is responsible for them all.  These false teachings are the real reasons why the nations of the world are being gathered to the great battle of Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 262

To have some conception of what the terrible and final trouble will be, what will constitute the battle of Armageddon, we must have some conception of the extent and power of Satan’s organization.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 262

All these elements that go to make up the visible part of Satan’s organization are being gathered together and assembled for the great battle of Armageddon.  The formation of the army is in progress and is nearing completion.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 262

In the assembly of the nations for Armageddon these take their place to the strains of martial music, with banners flying and the clanging of accoutrements of war.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 263

But with the end of Armageddon, when his systems have been cast into utter destruction and when he is in restraint, then will come to pass the fulfilment of the prophetic utterance long ago written concerning the Devil: “Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. How art thou fall en from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”-Isaiah 14:11, 12.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 267

Another illustration of Armageddon is given in the battle fought by Gideon against the great multitude of Midian. The Midianites were the enemies of God’s people.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 267

UPON the stage are those who have lived through the terrible ordeal of the battle of Armageddon, comparatively few, so far as relative numbers of earth’s previous population is concerned, yet millions in the aggregate.  They are the “millions now living who will never die.”

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 277

The first work is to clear away the awful debris of the battle of Armageddon.  With the knowledge of modern appliances it does not take many ears.  They are also aided by the power of Jehovah.

The Golden Age.  January 25, 1928 p. 277

During the battle of Armageddon the earth gave birth to new atmospheric conditions. Health instead of disease is the order of the day. The deserts begin to bring forth abundantly and blossom as the rose. The earth is being rapidly transformed into Paradise, made ready to welcome and support the billions soon to be called from their graves.

Question: When will the time of trouble such as the world has never known, stated in Matthew 24:21, 22, take place.

Answer: This great time of trouble is in the immediate future; and for this the nations of earth are desperately preparing in the manufacture of airplanes, high explosives, and poison gases.  This is called by the Bible the battle of Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  February 8, 1928 p. 316

ON THE sixteenth of October over this station you will recall that I spoke to you concerning the great battle of god Almighty.  That is otherwise designated in the Scriptures as Armageddon.  It is now my privilege to speak concerning the establishment of the world.

The Golden Age.  February 22, 1928 p. 831

One of the other commandments which God gave to those who have agreed to do His will is that they must declare the day of God’s vengeance. That means that they must declare God’s purpose to vindicate His name.  That is the reason for speaking concerning the battle of Armageddon.  Nothing could be gained by frightening the people, but it is manifest that God intended for this matter to be called to the attention of the people for their good.  That great climax in the affairs of men must precede the establishment of the world. Armageddon marks the expression of God’s indignation against the great wickedness that Satan has caused the people to fall into. It is the will of God, as declared by His Word, that the people now should be advised of this that they may understand that Jehovah is God, and that Christ is His great Executive Officer.  The great battle of Armageddon is yet future, and the Scriptures and other facts indicate it is near, and then the Scriptures positively show that the establishment of the world shall follow.

The Golden Age.  February 22, 1928 p. 831

We may call to mind all the disasters that have befallen the human race during its existence, all the wars, all the earthquakes, cyclones and other calamities; and then know that none of these will equal in woe that which shall befall the world during the great battle of Armageddon.  That this conclusion is correct is proven by the words of Jesus that upon the earth there should be tribulation such as was not since the world began, no, and never should be again.

Under the heading “Racial Unrest” Mr. Pavao says: Then there are smoldering of a Race World War, perhaps the Armageddon of Biblical prophecy (God forbid!), taking slow flame and which can  not but lead to a conflagration that will out rival the last World War, if no sincere effort is immediately exerted to solve the trouble with amity and justice.

Sixth: That because Satan will not surrender his wicked rule over the nations and peoples of the earth, Jehovah of hosts with His anointed executive officer Christ Jesus will press the conflict against Satan and all of his forces of evil, and henceforth our battle-cry shall be, THE SWORD OF JEHOVAH AND OF HIS ANOINTED; that the great battle of Armageddon soon to begin will result in the full restraint of Satan mid the complete overthrow of his evil organization, and that Jehovah will establish righteousness in the earth by and through Christ the new ruler and will emancipate mankind from evil and bring everlasting blessings to all the nations of the earth;

While all the nations will be involved in Armageddon it will not be fought between nations, as the great World War was fought.  The Scriptures declare that it will be “the great battle of God Almighty”.  (Rev. 16:12-14)

The Golden Age.  September 5, 1928 p. 778

Arrogant, cruel and ,wicked beyond description,  Satan thinks he can defeat Jehovah and therefore prepares for the great battle of Armageddon.  He musters all of his forces, both visible and invisible.

The Golden Age.  September 5, 1928 p. 778, 779

The great battle of Armageddon is necessary to teach all creation that Jehovah is the true God and besides Him there is none other.  Some vision of the battle of Armageddon is given in God’s Word.

The Golden Age.  September 5, 1928 p. 779

As to the far-reaching effect of Armageddon God’s prophet Jeremiah says: “A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord.
The Golden Age.  September 5, 1928 p. 779

Satan and his agents are making a desperate effort to prevent the giving of such notice.  Jesus declares that when this witness is done Armageddon shall follow, and He describes it as a time of tribulation such as the world has never before known and will never again know.-Matt. 24:21, 22.

The Golden Age.  September 5, 1928 p. 779

The prophet, further describing Armageddon and what shall follow thereafter, says: “They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit’s end.

The Golden Age.  September 5, 1928 p. 779

By and through His anointed and faithful Son Christ Jesus Jehovah will, in the great battle of Armageddon, destroy Satan’s organization and will then establish the world in righteousness which shall endure for ever.-Ps. 96:10.

The Golden Age.  September 5, 1928 p. 781

Quietly I restated the message of the Bible to the present generation; of the dawn of universal peace after the destruction of the systems of militarism and oppression in impending Armageddon.

The Golden Age.  October 17, 1928 p. 44

In this regard a news item appearing in the Ottawa Farm Journal under the heading “Many Think Active Plans Indicate World on Brink of Second Huge Conflict” is well worth repeating.  It reads: London.-Is the world heading fast for Armageddon, and will this year bring us the bring of a conflict the magnitude of which will make the great struggle of 1914-1918 seem almost trivial?

The Golden Age.  October 31 1928 p. 76

1928 Watchtower

All the prophetic evidences, viewed in the light of the physical facts, prove that the world has ended, which means that Satan’s organization has reached its fulness; that God has set his beloved Son upon his throne (Psalm 2: 6), which means that Christ Jesus has assumed his great authority and begun his reign; that Satan has been expelled from heaven and that all the forces are now gathering for Armageddon, which is the great battle of God Almighty against Satan and his organization; and that the Lord has come to his temple, which means that the Lord is gathering to himself his faithful servant class. To this class the Lord gives commandment to proclaim the great message of God’s truth to the nations of earth as a witness and then Armageddon shall quickly follow and that shall be the final trouble upon earth.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  January 1, 1928 p. 4

The witness to his name must be done before Armageddon because it is God’s announced purpose that it shall be done. There would seem to be no reasonable cause for giving such testimony after Armageddon

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  January 1, 1928 p. 4

Literature put forth by the “prisoner” class shows that they are expecting the rise of an individual Antichrist; then the sudden, visible appearance of our Lord and the Armageddon battle, at which time the saints will be taken up to heaven. According to our understanding they will be sorely disappointed. Antichrist will be destroyed, Armageddon will come and the remnant will be taken, but Christ will not appear in the flesh or be visible to human eyes.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  January 15, 1928 p. 30

The Scriptures make it emphatic that Armageddon is God’s fight.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  January 15, 1928 p. 56

Armageddon will bring knowledge to all creation that Jehovah is God, and that Christ Jesus his beloved Son is King of kings and Lord of lords.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  January 15, 1928 p. 56

The people of earth who survive the great battle of  Armageddon must be convinced in God’s own way that it is a manifestation of his power and the time of the presence of his Kin, whom he has placed upon his throne.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  January 15, 1928 p. 57

We also know that the forces are rapidly gathering for Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  May 15, 1928 p. 158

It is the time in which the people must be told the meaning of the Flood, the meaning of the destruction of the Egyptians, and why the battle of Armageddon is just ahead.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  June 1, 1928 p. 167

It takes place before Armageddon; and following the change of stewardship the remnant, the faithful Servant class, go forth with boldness and fearlessness in representing the Lord and testifying to his name.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  July 1, 1928 p. 199

Undoubtedly Isaiah refers to the battle of Armageddon, the battle of God Almighty, and to the destruction of all opposers to God’s kingdom which will take place.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  July 1, 1928 p. 199

Satan well knows that the battle of Armageddon is rapidly approaching.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  July 15, 1928 p. 215

Who does not know of Hermon and its snows, of the great mountains of Lebanon, of which Hermon is the southern guard; of Gilboa with its sad associations with Saul and Joatha; of Megiddo, known in later days as Armageddon; of the mountains of Bashan, and those of Horeb in the south?

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  July 15, 1928 p. 216, 217

It is that which it still wants, and for which it will fight, and which will lead it to the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 1, 1928 p. 234

The great battle of Armageddon, which is now just ahead, will result in the complete destruction of all of Satan’s wicked organization that now oppresses mankind.

Following the great conflict of Armageddon Christ will take full charge of earth’s affairs as its invisible Ruler.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  August 15, 1928 p. 249

The anointed now see that there is a deadly conflict between the two organizations and that the climax thereof will be reached in Armageddon when the evil organization of Satan shall fall never again to rise.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 1, 1928 p. 261

The work of thus stowing notice or giving the witness to the name of Jehovah is but the prelude to the great battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 1, 1928 p. 262

Ezekiel was a young man, just turning thirty years of age, and his vision may well be said to set forth the visions as seen by the young men, described by the Prophet Joel, and which visions, resulting from God’s lightnings and rain, are seen just preceding the great battle of Armageddon and the destruction of Satan’s organization.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 1, 1928 p. 263

The whole picture therefore is that of God’s mighty organization, moving into action just preceding the great battle of Armageddon, and upon which and through which God rides and presides.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 1, 1928 p. 263

Joel records a commandment given which shows that it applies in “the day of the Lord’s vengeance”and just before the great battle of Armageddon begins.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 1, 1928 p. 264

Sixth: That because Satan will not surrender his wicked rule over the nations and peoples of the earth, Jehovah of hosts with his anointed executive officer Christ Jesus will press the conflict against Satan and all of his forces of evil, and henceforth our battle-cry shall be, THE SWORD 0F JEHOVAH AND OF HIS ANOINTED that the great battle of Armageddon soon to begin will result in the full restraint of Satan and the complete overthrow of his evil organization, and that Jehovah will establish righteousness in the earth by and through Christ the new ruler and will emancipate mankind from evil and bring everlasting blessing to all the nations of the earth;

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 278, 279

Now the nations of birth failing to take their stand on the side of Jehovah but holding to Satan, God will overthrow Satan and his organization in the great battle of Armageddon and all the nations and tribes of the earth shall see it.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 284

While all the nations will be involved in Armageddon it will not be fought between nations, as the great World War was fought.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 284

Arrogant, cruel and wicked beyond description, Satan thinks he can defeat Jehovah and therefore prepares for the great battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 284

Jehovah will no longer permit Satan to exercise his blinding influence over the peoples of the earth. The great battle of Armageddon is necessary to teach all creation that Jehovah is the true God and besides him there is none. Some vision of the battle of Armageddon is given in God’s Word.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 284

As to the far-reaching effect of Armageddon God’s prophet Jeremiah says: “A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations; he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 284, 285

Jesus declares that when this witness work is done Armageddon shall follow, and he describes it as a time of tribulation such as the world has never before known and will never again know.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 285

The prophet, further describing Armageddon and what shall follow thereafter, says: “They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit’s end.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 285

The battle of Armageddon, now near, and which shall shake the earth from center to circumference, is all-essential to awaken the people to the fact that only Jehovah can satisfy their righteous desire.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 285

War will not cease until Satan is bound and shorn of his power, and this will be done in the great battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 285

By and through his anointed and faithful Son, Christ Jesus, Jehovah will, in the great battle of Armageddon, destroy Satan’s organization, and will then establish the world in righteousness, which shall endure for ever.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  September 15, 1928 p. 285

Jehovah’s prophecies and the physical facts making the fulfillment thereof show to his anointed that the great battle of Armageddon is rapidly approaching.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1928 p. 291

Manifestly the time for this is after Satan is cast out of heaven and when he is hurrying on to the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1928 p. 292

The truth and light that God sheds upon his Word today is strong corroborative evidence that we are in “that day” when the forces are gathering for Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1928 p. 293

God says to the remnant: “Hide thyself for a little moment until the indignation be overpast.” Manifestly “the little moment” is the “short time” that the Devil knows that he has to prepare and fight the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  October 1, 1928 p. 294

This is in accord with what took place after Gideon and his little band surrounded the Midianites and which foreshadowed the distress during Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 357

The Scriptures abundantly show that the battle of Armageddon is the battle of God Almighty against Satan’s organization. (Hab. 3:1-15) It is also made clear from the Scriptures that Armageddon will be fought “in that day” so frequently mentioned by the prophets.  We are now in that day, and all indications are that we are approaching the great battle of God Almighty. It is “in that day”, that is to say, in the close proximity of Armageddon that the ’altar and pillar in the midst of Egypt and at the border thereof’ will be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 358, 359

They are witnessing of him and his name and conceding his expression of vengeance in Armageddon, which is just ahead.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 359

Then follows the battle of Armageddon, which will bring deliverance to the people, and the knowledge of the great Savior will bring them relief and everlasting blessings.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 360

Following the giving of this witness and following the battle of Armageddon, in which God will smite Egypt (the world), he will heal the peoples of the world and bring them the blessings they have so long desired.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 360

Does the pyramid of Gizeh say anything about the battle of Armageddon and the preparation therefor?

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 361

Not so with Satan, the adversary of God and man.  He feels that his rights and his domain are being invaded, and since 1918 he is fostering anti-kingdom movements and is gathering all the kings na kingdoms of this world in hostile array against the Lord’s kingdom and prepares to fight the final and determining battle, Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 362

Jesus predicted that this proclamation of the established kingdom would be carried on before Satan’s empire would meet its full end in the battle of Armageddon.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 363

The outcome is that the people who sit in the gross darkness that now covers the earth, and who sit in the region and shadow of death which the battle of Armageddon threatens, see great light, blessed light.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 1, 1928 p. 365

This maybe taken as an indication that some of the remnant will be on earth even after Armageddon is fought and will then have some more work to do in the name of the Lord and to his praise and glory.

The Watchtower and Herald of Christ’s Presence.  December 15, 1928 p. 376
